OR’s west building, reconstruction

Verkís is responsible for all engineering design. The building is designed in BIM building information system.

Verkís handles all engineering design of the reconstruction of the part of Reykjavík Energy’s (OR) office space. Hornsteinar is the arcitect of the building.

The walls of the house need to be rebuilt after is was revealed in 2017 that there was a lot of moisture damage.

OR’s west building will undergo some layout changes. The main change is that the walls of the house will be straightened out. This means that the floor area of the lower floors will increase, while the upper floors will decrease. The total floor area before and after the changes will be similar.

The design of the buildings’s rebuilding was based of these basic principles:

  • Approved solutions and implementations
  • Efficiency in constructions and operation
  • Based on the current carrier system
  • New look, modest and low-pitched
  • Flexible and healthy interior
