The project was carried out in cooperation with NGO Geothermal Ukraine and ÍSOR – Iceland GeoSurvey, and funded by the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs during 2023–2024.

Project focus

The study assessed geothermal utilisation options for:

  • district heating,
  • greenhouse cultivation,
  • industrial applications,
  • wellness and tourism facilities.

The research covered the regions of Zakarpattia, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk, indicating strong potential for geothermal energy to enhance energy security and reduce operational costs in the region.
