Verkís at IGC 2024

Verkís is thrilled to announce its participation in the upcoming 5th Iceland Geothermal Conference (IGC) to be held at Reykjavík’s iconic Harpa Concert Hall from May 28th to 30th, 2024. Hosted by the Iceland Renewable Energy Cluster, the conference will spotlight the diverse opportunities within the geothermal energy sector.

The IGC 2024 will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to explore key themes such as climate resilience, innovative sustainability solutions, profitability in green economies, societal impact, and inclusivity. • Hlín Vala Aðalsteinsdóttir, Mechanical Engineer, will discuss “Desalination of water with geothermal fluid” in the session A2 – Direct Utilization – Diversification.
• Vigfús Arnar Jósefsson, Mechanical Engineer, will present “Reykjanes power plant: Turning silica challenges into a business opportunity” in the session B2 – Zero Waste Geothermal – Circular Economy.
• Elín Vignisdóttir, Geographer, will delve into “Life cycle assessment of geothermal power plants in Reykjanes and Svartsengi” in session B4 – Zero Footprint Geothermal.
• Þorleikur Jóhannesson, Marketing manager and Mechanical Engineer at Verkís and Ármann E. Lund, Mechanical Engineer at Verkís will participate in A4 – Resilience – Natural Disasters
  They will speak about “Can resource gathering systems ever go underground?”

Additionally, Carine Chatenay, Civil Engineer and Marketing Manager in Energy and Industry at Verkís, will moderate session A4 – Resilience – Natural Disasters.
