Strengthening Nordic–Indian cooperation

Haukur Þór Haraldsson, Head of Business Development at Verkís, took part in the Nordic India Dialogue 2025, held in Reykjavík on 4–5 September. The event brought together over 70 leaders from government, academia, and industry across the five Nordic countries and India to discuss shared challenges and opportunities in sustainability, technology, and international cooperation.

Focus on planetary resilience and the Arctic

Haukur participated in the panel “Planetary Resilience: The Arctic and Global Sustainability,” which explored how collaboration between India and the Nordic countries can accelerate the green transition and support sustainable development. The session highlighted the deep interconnection between the Arctic and the Indian Ocean, noting that melting ice and sea-level rise affect both regions.

Geothermal energy as a key to the green transition

In his contribution, Haukur shared insights on Iceland’s long-standing expertise in geothermal energy and its potential to support sustainable growth worldwide. The panel emphasized that cooperation in renewable energy, particularly in geothermal development, offers vast potential for joint projects and innovation.

Shared commitment to sustainability and innovation

The dialogue also focused on broader themes such as the energy transition, circular economy, and Arctic research collaboration, encouraging cross-regional partnerships that combine India’s scale and innovation capacity with Nordic technological know-how.
