Verkís Participates in UN Sustainable Development Goals Flag Day

Today, September 25, marks the second annual UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Flag Day in Iceland. The initiative is led by UN Global Compact and the United Nations Association Iceland, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of the SDGs, which focus on promoting sustainable development worldwide.

Flag Day provides an opportunity for companies, governments, institutions, municipalities, and schools to demonstrate their commitment to the SDGs and the actions required to achieve them. Verkís is among the companies that actively support the goals, having integrated them into its strategy and operations.

Verkís and the SDGs

Verkís has long prioritized sustainability in its operations and places special emphasis on seven of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which align with the company’s strategy and activities. Since signing the UN Global Compact in 2018, Verkís has further incorporated sustainable practices into its operations, playing an active role in infrastructure development and sustainable growth, both in Iceland and internationally.

Flag Day – A Catalyst for the Future

The SDG Flag Day serves as a key platform to highlight the actions taken by companies and organizations to contribute toward the United Nations’ goals. By raising the SDG flag, Verkís underscores its commitment to sustainable practices.
This initiative also encourages entrepreneurs and the younger generation to innovate new ways to achieve sustainability. Verkís hopes that Flag Day sparks interest in the vital work the company and other organizations are doing for a sustainable future.
