In recent years, increasing emphasis has been placed on adapting infrastructure to its surrounding landscape, partly as a result of Iceland’s participation in the European Landscape Convention. Verkís carries out landscape and visual impact assessments both for planning proposals and environmental impact assessments of projects.
This work includes the analysis of landscape character, visibility of structures, and visual impacts, as well as the production of 3D models and 3D visualizations that clearly illustrate how proposed developments will affect the surrounding environment.
Visual impact assessment focuses specifically on evaluating the visual effects of development and is closely linked to landscape assessment. It is based on internationally recognized methodologies from the Landscape Institute (Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment – LVIA). Verkís specialists manage all aspects of the process, including assessment planning, site photography, visibility analysis, and the development of visual simulations. This ensures a professional and reliable evaluation of the visual impact of proposed projects.
