Vesturbæjarskóli School Extension
The project involved construction supervision and quality oversight for a new extension to Vesturbæjarskóli in Reykjavík.
As well as various alterations to the existing school building.
Project overview
The three-storey extension accommodates new classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, and dedicated facilities for music education. The total floor area of the extension is approximately 1,400 m².
The project also included modifications to existing facilities, including the renovation of the school’s gymnasium, which was completed and brought into operation during the construction period. At the time of construction, structural works had been completed, with interior finishing works progressing in the new building alongside refurbishment works within the existing school.
Verkís provided construction supervision and monitoring throughout the project, helping ensure quality, progress, and compliance during both the extension and renovation phases.

The Challenge
The extension of Vesturbæjarskóli required the construction of new teaching facilities while renovation work continued within the existing school.
