Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a methodology used to evaluate the environmental impacts of products, structures or services throughout their entire life cycle.
Request a consultationLCA analyses environmental impacts from raw material extraction and manufacturing processes to transportation and disposal. The results are classified into various environmental impact categories, including the carbon footprint. LCA helps pinpoint the stages where the most significant environmental impacts occur. Based on these insights, strategies can be developed to reduce these environmental impacts through modifications in design, material selection, or other improvements.
Wide Range of Software Tools
Verkís provides consultancy services specialising in Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs).These assessments are carried out in accordance with international standards ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, as well as other relevant standards. Verkís uses various LCA software, including SimaPro and One Click LCA. The One Click LCA software can integrate with BIM models, making LCAs for structures more efficient and cost-effective.
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a report that provides information about the environmental impacts of a product over its life cycle, based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study. EPD reports are reviewed and verified by an independent third party.
Environmental declarations are becoming increasingly important for product manufacturers, as there is growing demand for such transparency to support environmental certifications.
An EPD is based on standards and regulations, ensuring that the information about the product’s environmental impacts is comparable with other similar products. These documents are therefore critical in minimizing greenwashing.
Verkís can prepare the EPD document and communicate with third party certification bodies to complete the certification process and publish the EPD.
