The project involved the refurbishment and expansion of Ásgarðslaug Swimming Pool in Garðabær.
The works included the design and construction of new facilities, as well as the renovation of existing changing rooms and pool areas.
Key improvements included two new hot tubs, a new cold plunge pool, a new wading/sitting pool, a children’s water slide, two massage waterfalls, new outdoor showers, and poolside decking. The steam bath was renovated and retiled, and the outdoor changing facilities were upgraded. All shower facilities were renewed, and a new accessible changing room with a private toilet and shower was constructed within the indoor changing facilities.
Verkís provided structural engineering design, design of drainage, plumbing and heating systems, swimming pool systems design, ventilation design, fire safety engineering, acoustic design, electrical design, project preparation services, design management, tender documentation and contract administration, technical supervision, and cost control.
The refurbished swimming pool was officially reopened on the First Day of Summer, 19 April 2018.
Verkís was responsible for the design, project management, and construction supervision of the project.
