Skøltevegen Bridge, Norway

Verkís provided both preliminary and detailed design services for the new Skøltevegen Bridge across Hedalsfjorden in Norway, which opened to traffic in November 2025.

The scope also included tender documentation and the design of the connecting road infrastructure.

Project overview

The 54-metre bridge consists of two 27-metre spans with a central pier founded on a natural islet in the lake. To optimise construction efficiency, the bridge was designed using precast, prestressed concrete girders combined with an in-situ cast deck. The solution minimised on-site construction activities, improved safety during construction, and reduced work over water.

At the recommendation of Verkís, the project utilised the latest generation of pre-approved bridge girders developed in accordance with Norwegian road authority requirements. The design provided a cost-effective, safe, and environmentally responsible solution while reducing material consumption and construction complexity compared with conventional bridge alternatives.

Verkís was responsible for bridge design, road design, tender documentation, and engineering support throughout the project.
